    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Cultural Practitioner’ means an individual whose artistic endeavours result in the creation of works of the areas of arts and culture, design, and media; or an Individual whose technical or administrative labour is required to facilitate the production of goods and services in the cultural and creative industries. Members of Cultural organisations (Umbrella organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations, Profit and Non-Profit Companies) can also be registered as Cultural Practitioners.
  2. What Does ‘Artiste’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Artiste’ means an individual whose artistic endeavours result in the direct creation of works in the areas of arts and culture, design, and media.
  3. What Does ‘Cultural Worker’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Cultural Worker’ means an Individual whose technical or administrative labour is required to facilitate the production of goods and services in the cultural and creative industries. Members of Cultural organisations (Umbrella organizations, Non-Governmental Organisation, Profit and Non-Profit Companies) can also be registered as Cultural Workers.
  4. What Does ‘Registration’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Registration’ refers to the creation (and subsequent completion) of a profile on this website.
  5. What Does ‘Certification’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Certification’ refers to the receipt of the cultural practitioners’ certificate which confirms the artiste or cultural practitioners’ status in their area as bona fide. This certification allows the holder to access the benefits available in cultural industries participants under the Cultural Industries Development Act No. 13 of 2015. This occurs after the completion of registration.
  6. What Does ‘Audio Production’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Audio Production’ refers to a sound recording for public release.
  7. What Does ‘Visual Production’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Visual Production’ refers to an audiovisual work in the medium known as film or video for public release.
  8. What Does ‘Video Production’ Mean?
    • For the purposes of this Registry, the term ‘Video Production’ refers to an audiovisual work in any of the electronic video formats for public release.
  9. How do I use my certification/registration to secure investment or sponsorship from individuals and/or private sector companies?
    • Registration of Cultural Practitioners is designed to make investment in their enterprises more attractive to the private sector. These benefits accrue to cultural practitioners registered on the National Directory of Cultural Practitioners.
    • If you are a registered cultural practitioner, advise your potential investor that they can claim as an allowance for that year of income 100% of the actual investment they provide to you. Use the certificate you obtained on approval of your registration to confirm your bona fide status.   11. How do I register?
    • o Artistes, cultural workers and organisations or groups working in the Cultural Industries must create a user to access the backend of the site, then create a profile to input their information and load the required documents.
      Individuals/Organizations
      • On the www.barbadosartists.bb homepage, Click on “Register”.
      • When the Registration Form comes up, complete your user info – remember that your password must have a special symbol such as !@#$ in it.
      • Following successful creation of a user, click "Create Your Profile".
      • Select either "Individual" OR "Organisation".
      • Complete the wizard shown.
      • When you are finished, check the information thoroughly and press “Submit”.
